Attorney Bio

I am a Marine Corps veteran dedicated to fighting big business, creditors, and collectors to prevent them from victimizing debtors and consumers.  I force these businesses to treat debtors and consumers with dignity and respect.  I fight to stop collector harassment, stop collection calls, eliminate threats, defend debtors in court, and protect debtors’ assets.  I have also been successful in forcing debt collectors and creditors to pay money damages for committing unfair acts and for violating the Debtor's Bill of Rights

In addition to being a former Marine, I have also clerked for a U.S. Senator in Washington, D.C., where I worked on consumer and elderly issues. I served as a law clerk for the Washington State Attorney General’s Office for two years while in law school. I have owned and operated Adult Care Homes and a Residential Care Facility providing 24-hour care to elderly and disabled residents.

During the summer of 2007, I was invited to give a presentation at the annual Consumer Law CLE at Gonzaga School of Law

Recently, I was invited to participate in a “collection agency think tank” at the Attorney General’s Office in Seattle, Washington.  The goal of the group was to discuss current issues confronting debtors in this state and to craft legislation to help protect debtors.  The group of approximately 20 individuals consisted of a Senior Counsel for the Attorney General’s Office, two Staff Attorneys from the Federal Trade Commission, the Regulatory Program Manager for the Master Business License Service of the Washington State Department of Licensing, which licenses all Washington State Collection Agencies, Harumi Tolbert, two Better Business Bureau representatives, one Legislator, several owners of medium and large Washington-based collection agencies, five private practice consumer law attorneys, one military attorney, and a few attorneys from public interest law organizations such as Northwest Justice Project.

Most recently, I was invited to speak on a local Spokane radio show aimed at community service.

I am a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates and a former trustee for the Young Lawyers Division of the Washington State Bar Association. I am licensed to practice law in the States of Washington and Oregon. I am also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington, and the U.S. District Court of Oregon.

I am a devoted father and husband.  I Coach U10 Girls Soccer.  I am an avid fisherman and love most things related to the outdoors, especially rafting, camping, canoeing, biking, and nature walks.  I also enjoy just playing with my kids.
